Nostalgia in dreams
So lately with this lockdown, I find myself dreaming of cities I fell in love with, cities we visited recently or was about to visit. I dream of wandering around, of cafés and books, theaters and movies, visiting an exhibition and feeling renewed and so inspired afterwards, meeting loved ones here and there, hanging out in parks, discovering hidden corners, nostalgia of what we had, what we took for granted, a walk here and there, smelling the food of restaurants on the way, listening to musicians playing and feeling so connected, to the sky and the cities’ colors, passing between a bunch of people and secretly saluting each of them, smiling at strangers, making eye contacts here and there… When will we go back to that? Will it be the same again? Will we be able to go back to a place we once knew? Will we be able to hug everyone again without the fear of catching a virus? Will we go to crowded concerts? Cafés? Streets? Maybe not… who knows! The impermanence of life teaches us a rough lesson. Do not take for granted what you have today, for the present is all we have. This. Now.
